Test Engineer

T-Rex Solutions is seeking a qualified Test Engineer to support a new initiative with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to modernize legacy software and applications that provide immigration status, criminal history, and real-tie assistance to federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement that require assistance with carrying out their missions. This is an agile software development and support services program supporting mission-critical work for DHS.

The Test Engineer will have overall responsibility in the performance of both manual and automated software test plan development and execution.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement efficient and effective testing strategies, test conditions and test scripts for projects
• Define clear expectations for all testing tasks, including inputs and outputs
• Implement test tools such as Selenium, Katalon Studio Automation, Groovy, and JavaScript to support automation and performance testing
• Ensure appropriate testing coverage and requirements traceability through the creation, implementation and enhancement of comprehensive test plans, test cases/user stories, test steps and test automation\
• Use the command line terminal like Git CMD and defect tracking systems such as Jira
• Utilize developer tools like Visual Studio Code and IDEs
• Utilize Chrome developer tools to analyze the content/resources of a webpage
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, scripts, and creating test data for Agile Software Development team; including functional, integration, regression, data integrity and stress testing as well as assisting with user acceptance
• Identify gaps and deficiencies in business requirements, technical specifications, designs and testing documentation for completeness and testability
• Track defects and report key metrics for proactively identifying areas for improvement
• Coordinating the setup of test environments for all planned test execution activities
• Decompose requirements into detailed test cases for functional and regression test execution

Requirements:

• Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment
• Quality Assurance Institute (QAI) Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE) certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
• Katalon Practitioner certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
• Experience managing both manual and automated test teams, including setting goals and objectives, assigning tasks, and providing status reports
• Experience with creating a centralized test management system to track test progress and results
• Understanding of software testing types and methods to support Agile Software Development
• Technical proficiency with SQL including the ability to create queries to validate data integrity and other data constraints
• Experience with all aspects of configuration management planning including configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, configuration audits, configuration documentation
• Proven ability to identify resource constraints and other potential schedule issues and risks
• Experience implementing testing and configuration management methodologies to support continuous integration

Desired Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Information Technology or a related field

In compliance with pay transparency guidelines, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $150,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
