Compensation:$43,763-$54,694Compensation Type:SalaryEmployment Type:Fixed Term (Fixed Term)Scheduled Weekly Hours:40Grade:E01Department:Academic AdministrationPosition SummaryPerforms specialized duties in support of Adult Education programs and for instructing assigned classes. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement.
This is a TERM (Fixed-Term) position, Therefore continued employment is contingent upon the Student Information System (SIS) Workday project completion time.
This position will have the opportunity to enjoy a hybrid work schedule as determined by the Director of Adult Education, combining both remote work and in-office presence, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance.Duties & Responsibilities
  • Answers questions from potential students, volunteer tutors, visitors, and other community service providers; acts as liaison with other departments, outside partners.

  • Prepares and maintains a variety of correspondence, documents, and reports, some being highly confidential.

  • Utilizes the college's database, Workday, and LACES for assigned tasks. Enters student and tutor data to LACES

  • Database; records demographic, assessment, and outcomes, and program hours.

  • Participates in the planning and coordination of program/departmental events and activities.

  • Researches and prepares a variety of reports and spreadsheets.

  • Maintains program/department filing system, electronic and paper.

  • Assists students, staff, and adjunct faculty.

  • Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages; refers to appropriate personnel.

  • Attends internal and external meetings.

  • Conducts intake, orientations, assessments, and reassessments for students.

  • Assesses and compiles data to track program effectiveness and needs as well as tracks student accomplishments and level increases.

  • Selects, trains, mentors, supervises, and evaluates the performance of student employees.

  • Varied specialized duties in support of Adult Education programming. Student retention strategies that contribute to the complexity of the position.

  • The purpose of this position is to provide specialized and instructional support for Adult Education programming. Success in this position contributes to student success.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 software.

  • Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, college policies and procedures, other state and federal education laws, and program policies and procedures.

  • Skill in decision-making and problem-solving.

  • Skill in the maintenance of files and records.

  • Skill in researching, compiling, and preparing reports.

  • Skill in oral and written communication and interpersonal relations.

  • Ability to provide quality customer service.

  • Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.

  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, including the ability to recognize situations in which confidentiality is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in education or a related field.

  • Four (4) years' directly related experience.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.

  • Two (2) years’ directly related experience.

  • Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework in basic skills instruction, learning disabilities of at-risk students, standards-based curriculum design and assessment theory;
  • Spanish language fluency: speaking, listening, reading, writing.
  • Experience in an educational setting.

Work Hours

  • 8 am to 5 pm Monday - Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required occasionally.

Physical Demands

  • This work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or intermittently standing or walking.
  • The employee occasionally stoops and lifts light and heavy objects. The work is typically done in an office or classroom.
