Position Summary:
The Adult Transitions Pathways program is seeking an ESL Program Liaison to develop, collaborate and coordinate program processes and curriculum aimed at successfully preparing and promoting English language acquisition, academic, and workforce readiness skills for our off-site community program. The ESL Program Liaison will also work with the Adult Transitions Pathways’ administrator to develop, implement, and evaluate the program’s continuous improvement efforts and provide administrative support to instructional staff ensure effective functioning at the off-site location.
This is a grant funded position. No continuing employment rights are implied beyond such funding.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of the enrollment process for the AT Pathways ESL program including in-take, assessment, Banner registration and Michigan Adult Education Reporting System data entry.
• Coordinate on-going communications for student registration.
• Responsible for maintaining all ESL program and student assessment data in Zip Grade.
• Monitor and assess pre-test scores and attendance hours to determine student post-test eligibility.
• Update and maintain class and student information in college learning management system.
• Generate and analyze program reports to help the team develop and implement strategies to meet student needs and program goals based on grant benchmarks.
• Compile and analyze CASAS test data which drives instructional practices within individual classrooms
• Responsible for all program data entry into the Michigan Adult Education Reporting System including demographic information, assessment, attendance, and student follow-up information.
• Follow up with students after program exit to monitor employment and post-secondary enrollment status.
• Provide weekly onsite program management to classroom teachers and students.
• Order and maintain all classroom and instructional supplies at the Ypsilanti Township Community Center.
• Develop student recognition activities that promote engagement and program completion.
• Develop additional student activities that promote community engagement.
• Create and conduct student, staff, and community partner surveys that will help drive program development.
• Participate in regional, state and national Adult Education meetings and trainings.
• Develop and implement department training and PD for instructional staff.
• Work with students and staff to identify student barriers and connect students to appropriate community resources for support.
• Help prepare, develop, and/or revise curricula based on program goals and guidelines, as needed.
• In collaboration with faculty and staff, evaluate, select and order appropriate curricula materials for ESL program.
• Coordinate with other staff to provide more opportunity for education and employment services.
• Help build partnerships and maintain communication with multiple stakeholders including participants, community partners, and program staff.
• Keep abreast of developments in field of specialization and/or instruction.
• Maintain a creative, team-building, cooperative approach to job performance and seek to bring a constructive, problem-solving orientation to all tasks.
• Actively strive to upgrade professional skills through professional training and experience.
• Other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule:
May require evenings and weekends during peak enrollment and assessment periods.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Equivalent of two (2) years successful work experience in related area.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, demonstrate initiative and be student success focused.
• Availability during day and evening hours at the WCC campus and off-campus locations.
• Computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite expertise.
• Ability to work with diverse students and staff and excel in a multi-cultural environment.
• Proficient with virtual communication platforms (set-up and facilitation of) including but not limited to Zoom, GoToMeeting, Microsoft Teams, Facebook Live, and other various social media platforms.
