Temporary Administrative Assistant & Events Planner, BCTR (part-time)

Using Cornell's far-reaching extension network and the college's translational research methods, we deliver our findings directly to communities and families, ensuring that our work reaches those who need it most.
The Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research (BCTR) is seeking to hire a part time Administrative Assistant and Events Planner to directly support the Community Neuroscience Initiative (CNI), a project within the BCTR, in planning and coordinating their events and talks series, including the Accessible Neuroscience lecture series and other community-facing or community-embedded events.


What You Will Do

Arrange travel, assist with scheduling, registration, food and beverage, and program materials associated with CNI events and trainings. Provide administrative support for Dr. Marlen Gonzalez, Director of the CNI, when needed. Assist with developing and planning for a conference hosted by the Bronfenbrenner Center in late 2024. Collaborate with the BCTR Director and center staff in outlining the project scope and planning schedule. Prepare and maintain planning documents, schedule appointments and meetings, and assist with correspondence regarding the conference. Assist with arranging travel, scheduling, registration, food and beverage, and program materials associated with the conference.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and up to 2-4 years of Administrative Assistant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to take initiative and simultaneously work on multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with community-based organizations.
  • Experience with zoom and hybrid event planning.
