We are looking for a liable Teller/Member Service Representative to process all transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be the “frontline” of our credit union and will play a fundamental role in achieving our member satisfaction and revenue growth objectives. You must be comfortable making dozens of transactions daily, communicate with different types of members and sell credit union products/services.
Responsibilities
- Answering, screening and forwarding any incoming phone calls while providing basic account information when needed.
- Balance currency, coin, and checks in cash drawers at end of shift, and calculate daily transactions using computers or calculators.
- Cash checks and pay out money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds.
- Receive checks and cash for deposit, verifying amounts
- Enter members' transactions into computers in order to record transactions and issue computer-generated receipts.
- Count currency, coins, and checks received, by hand or using currency-counting machine.
- Identify transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance.
- Prepare and verify cashier's checks
- Resolve problems or discrepancies concerning members' accounts
- Explain, promote, or sell services such as auto or unsecured loans.
- Perform clerical tasks such as typing and filing.
- Sort and file checks.
- Receive and count inventories of cash
- Process and maintain records of membership accounts and loans
- Carry out special services for members, such as ordering debit cards, taking payments over the phone using a Credit/Debit Card, withdraw from member accounts for Western Union.
- Obtain and process information required for the provision of services, such as opening accounts and special savings accounts (Christmas, Vacation, and SSA).
- Compose, type, and mail member statements and other correspondence related to issues such as discrepancies and outstanding unpaid items.
- Receiving and sorting daily mail/deliveries/couriers
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
