Technician I

TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician I to join our team in Houston, Texas.  

Job Summary:   The Technician I position performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of Intelligent Traffic Systems equipment such as CCTV systems, Dynamic Messaging Signs, Ramp Metering, Wrong Way Detection, etc. This job may include any aspect of field support, maintenance, and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; pole and foundation installation, troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; and preventive maintenance actions. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, wiring harnesses, circuit boards, sensors, media converters, solar systems and controller cabinets.
• Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
• Installs pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations.
• Uses test equipment including, but not limited to, volt meter, megger, underground utility locator and video monitor.
• Must be able to work at heights of 60 feet.
• Tests devices to ensure they work correctly.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.

Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
