The Technical Writer-Editor will support the Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP) by preparing original content for letters, memoranda, reports, talking points, speeches, and presentations as well as review and edit other written materials prepared by OTIP staff/project managers. The Technical Writer-Editor will consult with subject matter experts/project managers regarding the development of original material to gather background information and an understanding of the goals and objectives, target audience, and deadline for written materials. The Technical Writer-Editor will conduct quality assurance reviews of written correspondence, reports, presentations, and other written communications.
Duties include:Drafts new content and edits existing content for print, web, and social media, e.g., reports, letters, memoranda, presentations, webpages, news items, social media posts, etc.Reviews and edits all written materials, including, but not limited to, reports and correspondence.Ensures that documents meet HHS/ACF/OTIP editorial standards and specifications for quality, format, and style.Remains current on relevant OTIP programs to help assess the accuracy of written materials and ensures that up to date, accurate data and research sources are appropriately cited.Manages website updates, including writing, editing, and publishing content and web governance.Tracks and measures the effectiveness of communications efforts based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Optimizes print and web content for search engine visibility and ranking, and recommends changes to information architecture, content, linking, and other factors to improve SEO.Ensures agency digital communication products and activities adhere to all applicable Federal policies and procedures, including compliance with Section 508 and the Plain Language Act.Recommends appropriate format and media for conveying information based on target audiences.Interfaces with OTIP Program staff on the development, refinement, and completion of written materials. Remediates public-facing PDFs and Word documents to ensure accessibility and compliance with Section 508.Provides creative support for internal and external communication efforts including print publications, web content, digital communications, media, and video production.Assists with additional projects involving internal and external communications.Participates in meetings as required.Other duties, as assigned. Education Requires BS/BA in English, Journalism, or Communications.
