Technical Writing Specialist job description
The Department of Energy (DOE) is a cabinet-level agency that utilizes science and technology to address several of the nation's most pressing challenges. These challenges range from maintaining the nuclear stockpile while minimizing the proliferation of nuclear material, ensuring the nation's energy infrastructure is secure to managing energy solutions and research and eliminating threats from hazardous waste materials.
Summary:
DOE is looking for Technical Writing Specialist to provide support to SPO staff and activities as related to overall interface with DOE offices and sites for outreach and sustainability awareness campaigns. In order to share information, best practices, SPO programs, reporting requirements and data across DOE sites, the contractor will create, update, and distribute information in a variety of formats, including guidance documents, presentations, websites, social media, newsletters, and technical reports. The contractor will also assist SPO staff with respect to the creation, management, dissemination, and promoting internally and externally generated reports and documents intended for public and stakeholder consumption.
Duties:
•Develop graphics, multimedia, and infographics that can be integrated into SPO presentations.
•Provide technical writing support for the sustainability dashboard.
•Develop content for internal and external communications documents including the DOE Sustainability Newsletter, public SPO website, and internal DOE wiki (Power Pedia).
•Review and editing of technical reports, roadmaps, fact sheets and strategy documents for internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to, the Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan, Site Sustainability Plans, Compliance Tracking System (CTS) and the Composite Sustainability Plan. Contractor will also facilitate DOE review and approval of documents.
•Plan, prepare, edit, and facilitate review and approval of SPO materials for internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to, the SPO newsletter, the DOE website, postings to the Fed Center Daily Newsletter or similar sites, and Sustainability Scorecards.
•Provide comprehensive template development, content development and management, maintenance, and consolidation, including identifying areas for website and content maintenance for the Sustainability Awards website, the Sustainability Dashboard, CTS, the SPO website, and DOE websites. This will also include the need to coordinate with SPO, MA, and DOE Public Affairs to adhere to all standards and processes related to Web and digital services.
Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree. Must have at least five years (5) of experience. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay: $28.51 - $30.00 per hour
