Technical Writer (Contract, Part-Time)

Contract Details:

• This is a part-time, remote, contract position. Travel is required for some on-site client projects.

Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our team on a part-time, remote, contract basis. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing a wide range of deliverables, including assessments, IT strategic plans, RFPs, PowerPoint presentations, and proposals. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner suitable for a non-technical executive audience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend onsite meetings with clients to understand their needs and requirements, taking comprehensive notes to inform deliverable development.
• Develop high-quality, technical documents that are accessible to non-technical executive audiences, including IT strategic plans, RFPs, PowerPoint presentations, proposals, and other related documents.
• Analyze data and work with Excel models to quantify data points and support decision-making processes.
• Continuously learn about a wide variety of local government topics to ensure relevancy and accuracy in all deliverables.
• Collaborate closely with the project team to ensure all technical documentation aligns with client objectives and project goals.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to improve document quality and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Technical Writer or similar role, with a strong portfolio of technical documents written for a non-technical audience.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an easily understandable manner.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in working with Excel models and data analysis.
• Ability to attend onsite meetings with clients as required.
• A willingness to learn and become knowledgeable about a wide range of local government topics.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Communications, Journalism) or equivalent professional experience.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
