This internship position is with the Security and Privacy Research group in Intel Labs. Our mission is to drive industry-leading research on Cloud Security, Confidential Computing, Secure AI/ML, Cryptography, and Privacy to deliver higher robustness and assurance leveraging Intel platforms. As an intern in this position, you will join the Trustworthy Distributed Systems team. In our work, we develop and evaluate how new software and hardware-assisted techniques can enable novel approaches to establish the trustworthiness of code, data, and infrastructure in highly distributed computing environments.
During your internship, you will focus on designing and developing novel approaches to addressing some of the most pressing security, privacy, and trust problems in the area of Software Supply Chain. You will have the opportunity to explore algorithmic- and hardware-based techniques running on the latest software and system architectures for cloud computing. You will develop prototypes to evaluate and enhance your research ideas. You will have the opportunity to display your work through demos, whitepapers, and presentations at internal and external forums. Your work will help in laying the foundation for future Intel products.

Qualifications
You must possess the minimum qualifications below to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your work experience, graduate school, post-doc research and/or relevant internship experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must be pursuing a Ph.D. degree program in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a focus on security and distributed systems.
1+ years of work or educational experience with the following:
A basic understanding of fundamental security, distributed systems, and applied cryptographyconcepts.
Familiarity with Software Supply Chain techniques and concepts (eg, SBOM, CI/CD).
Familiarity developing system and application software for Linux based systems.
Experience programming in C/C+, Python and/or Go.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with designing and developing software for cloud and datacenter environments, including containers and virtual machines
Experience with system software development and debugging
Familiarity withConfidential Computingor other hardware-assisted security technologies
Familiarity with Intel architecture
Familiarity with open-sourceSoftware Supply Chain projects and standards

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado, New York, Washington, California: $63,000.00-$166,000.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience
Working Model
This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
