Description

As a member of the 2024 Class of Ampere Interns (Intern Ampers), you will apply your school learnings and your curiosities in the field of server-class microprocessor-based CPU/core design. You will be surrounded by industry experts passionate about what they do and ready to impart their knowledge onto you. We have opportunities both in hardware and software engineering. Whether your coursework and interests lie in Architecture, Logic Design, Physical Design, Thermal and Structural platform engineering, Design Verification, or Emulation/Post Silicon Debug and Validation, Ampere has internship openings across the company in the field of Hardware engineering. Internship is for 2024 start dates.

If Software engineering and firmware is more aligned to your interests, you will apply your programming experience and curiosities in the field of server-class microprocessor-based CPU/core design targeting cloud based software applications. There are opportunities across all levels of the stack. Help make sure software is amazing on Ampere hardware.

The Ampere Internship program focuses on you to build your networks, support your efforts in making an impact, and giving you exposure to what Ampere does and how Ampere operates across the company. What You'll Bring:

Hardware

  • Coursework or experience in the following fields:
  • Computer Hardware Engineering
  • High-performance microprocessor architecture concepts
  • Industry standard HDL languages (Verilog, System Verilog, VHDL) and simulation tools
  • x86 or ARM assembly language
  • High Performance Circuit Design concepts
  • Computer Architecture/microarchitecture concepts
  • Proven ability to own problems and drive them to resolution
  • Innovative mindset focused on solving problems
  • Strong verbal and communciation skills

Software/Firmware

  • Coursework or experience in the following fields:
  • Programming in C, C++ and scripting languages such as Perl or Python
  • Computer Architecture/microarchitecture concepts
  • Linux
  • Writing sustainable/maintainable quality code.
  • Ability to debug, root cause, and resolve issues spanning multiple subsystems.
  • Proven ability to own problems and drive them to a resolution.
  • Innovative mindset focused on solving problems.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study.
  • Availability to intern for approximately 12 weeks at one of our US sites: Portland, OR, Santa Clara, CA, or Raleigh, NC.
  • Anticipated/Expected graduation in December 2024 or Spring/Summer 2025 preferred.

Pay and Benefits

Ampere offers a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, bonus, stock, and comprehensive benefits. The full base pay range for this role at a masters level is between $90,000 and $150,000, except in the San Francisco Bay Area where the range is between $98,000 and $164,000. We also offer an annual bonus program tied to internal company goals and annual meritocratic stock awards that enable our employees to participate in the success of the company.
