Overview
This position provides leadership and support for all work related to Vegetation Management on the electric distribution system. This position provides leadership and direct supervision of employees and oversight of the contractor planning, coordinating, and execution of activities related to distribution Vegetation Management.
Responsibilities
Develops project work plans, cash flows, manages project changes, and resolves project problems to manage cost and schedule. Manages a team of exempt, professional level staff employees, including decisions related to hiring, training, performance management, salary, coaching, and development. Manages Utility Arborists in soliciting bids, selecting contractors, and overseeing contract services and safety performance. Ensures budget compliance using cost controls, regular monitoring of project activity, and careful review and control of costs. Pursues opportunities to implement technology to improve efficiencies and reduce O&M costs. Closely engaged with IT to develop, improve, and maintain Vegetation Management software applications. Assists in annual business planning process to address needs, schedules and funding related to ROW and Vegetation Management programs. Leads activities related to the improved documentation of department processes and procedures. Represents company with homeowner associations, city parks departments, community and regulatory agencies, neighboring businesses, property owners and other joint ROW utilities. All other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Position may be located in Louisville, KY or Lexington, KY
EDUCATIONAL_EXPERIENCE-Associate degree and minimum of 10 years transmission or distribution lines maintenance, inspection, and/or construction field experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis is required. Valid driver's license required.;SPECIAL_QUALIFICATIONS-Bachelor's degree in forestry, arboriculture, or technical degree with two or more years of previous supervisory experience preferred. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop organization processes, problem solving, decision-making, planning, and time management. Ability to prepare and make presentations and business cases. Computer skills: Work Management Software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GIS, PowerBI;WORK_CONDITIONS-Normal office environment with moderate field work required. Walking on uneven terrain;PHYSICAL_EFFORTS-Field work includes significant walking on uneven terrain.
