Maize Virtual High School is seeking a highly qualified virtual high school science teacher. The qualified candidate must have or be able to obtain Kansas License 6-12 Biology. Preference given to candidates with a second license in 6-12 Earth and/or 6-12 Chemistry.
Due to the small nature of our school, candidates will teach several preps at all times.
This unique position requires a teacher capable of building positive relationships with both students and parents in a virtual environment. Curriculum development and direct instruction via Blackboard is a requirement of this position. Experience in teaching in a virtual setting using technology similar to Blackboard and Edgenuity would be beneficial to the potential candidate, but not required. High quality in-person classroom experience is highly valued. The ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a team of highly qualified educators is required.
Maize Virtual School works to provide all teachers with support, education and growth in the field of virtual education. Mentor teachers are available to provide training and support to new staff members. USD 266 teachers are always encouraged to continue to learn and grow. In addition to typical virtual teaching responsibilities, teachers also are required to serve as an advisory teacher to a group of students and their families. Primary Location: Remote setting with high speed wifi capabilities required. Occasional travel to attend meetings, events and training may be required.
