This position is a member of our Water Quality Planning Division.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a part of the division's Water Quality Planning team, our Natural Resources Specialist III will play a key role in achieving TCEQ's mission. You would use your skills and experience to:
- Coordinate the Inform Science-Based Decision-Making Action Plans and the Galveston Bay Regional Monitoring Plan of The Galveston Bay Plan of the TCEQ.
- Procure goods and services through contracts and inter-agency agreements with outside organizations to accomplish implementation of specific initiatives in The Galveston Bay Plan and assure completion of deliverables including quality assurance project plans.
- Manage the Inform Science-Based Decision-Making actions of The Galveston Bay Plan and the Galveston Bay Regional Monitoring Plan by providing technical assistance.
- Oversee the implementation of the Galveston Bay Regional Monitoring Program, including coordination of the Regional Monitoring Database; and coordination of bay-wide data collection, analysis, and reporting activities. Maintain spatial data sets using geographical information systems software.
- Provide support in the development of initiatives with bay stakeholders to monitor and research Galveston Bay and make ecosystem information accessible. Assist with facilitating the quality assurance process.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field, plus two years of full-time experience in environmental activities.
- One year of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
OR
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, plus one year of the required experience.
OR
- A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, environmental studies, or related fields.
OR
- CAREER LADDER PROGRESSION: Two years of full-time experience as a Natural Resources Specialist II at TCEQ.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with quality assurance and/or data quality objectives.
- Experience using either ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Desktop.
- Experience with MS Office products including Access, Excel and/or Word.
- Experience manipulating or utilizing databases.
- Experience tracking performance measures or organizing and/or managing projects.
