OPPORTUNITY

This Senior Tax Manager role is a unique opportunity for anyone passionate about tax and is looking to step into a highly visible role with sophisticated clients. Candidates will join a progressive office in Nashville, Knoxville, or Chattanooga and will be fully responsible for directing and managing a diverse set of tax engagements, working with both business and individual clients across a wide range of industries.

LBMC Senior Tax Managers are client-service handlers, technicians, business developers, and mentors, focused on continuously developing both individual and team expertise to fully support existing and future client projects. Impactful Managers at LBMC act as technical advisors in providing advice or research assistance to others with moderate to complex tax questions and effectively supervises multiple engagements at one time. High-performing candidates have a clearly defined path for advancement to Shareholder roles within LBMC.

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Leads the development and delivery of services and products to LBMC clients and offers constructive ideas for improving operations and infrastructure of firm.
  • Assigns appropriate personnel to client engagement projects to ensure deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and according to client and firm expectations.
  • Provides mentorship opportunities to Staff, Senior Accountants, and Managers and provides opportunities for learning during client engagements.
  • Offers guidance and troubleshooting support when project roadblocks occur. Remains attentive to client and employee needs and concerns.
  • Runs service area meetings, continuing education requirements of employees, performance planning and evaluation of employees, recruiting and retention efforts for the firm, and other administrative tasks as deemed necessary.
  • Develops proactive relationships with clients in identifying and implementing tax planning opportunities.
  • Ensures clients are aware of all service offerings of the firm and remains responsive, constructive, and creative in meeting clients’ needs.
  • Focused in attaining standard fees, maximizing billing, collecting fees promptly, increasing income and profit.
  • Places a strong emphasis on business development and new relationship cultivation within targeted markets. Must regularly demonstrate the ability to significantly expand the work or services to new and existing clients in order to be considered for promotion to partner.
  • Develops the firm’s and the Senior Manager’s reputation by conducting webinars, making speeches, writing articles, participating in leadership positions in social or community organizations, etc.
  • Actively participates in the recruiting and retention of personnel. Provides meaningful and timely feedback to existing team members and focuses on the development of the future leaders.
  • Keeps current on recent developments and new pronouncements in the tax field. Practically applies technical knowledge to assignments and continually refines and develops working and technical skills acquired. In situations where an area of expertise has been designated for a manager, demonstrates competency and leadership in area of specialization.
  • Works diligently building relationships with key stakeholders at client organizations to continue to foster a long-term partnership between the LBMC Tax Department and external clients. High-performing individuals will be alert to client needs for the possible expansion of services to other LBMC service lines
  • Adheres to LBMC’s defined processes and procedures including the firm's policy on privacy and client confidentiality. Knows and follows the rules, regulations, and the Code of Professional Conduct of the AICPA, the Tennessee Society of CPAs, the Tennessee Board of Public Accountancy, and other regulating bodies as appropriate.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Bachelor's Degree and Licensed CPA
  • 10+ years of progressive tax consulting experience
  • 5+ years leading and training Staff and Senior Accountants in the public accounting space
