To assist in maintaining and enhancing the functions and objectives of the Accounting Department of Plains Cotton Cooperative Association. The Position includes preparing and remitting federal, state and local tax filings that meet all legal standards. This position will stay up-to-date with all tax changes and emerging tax issues relevant to our organization and to advise management. This position will also work to audit, review, and comment internal controls along with other procedural processes throughout the year.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare tax returns, payments, reports and filings
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local tax regulations
- Advise management and communicate relevant changes to tax law
- Assist in preparation of annual audit
- Assist in preparation of annual budget
- Perform cyclical review and documentation of internal controls, and make recommendations to management
- Assist in documenting various accounting department procedures and processes
- Complete special tasks and projects as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of various tax law and concepts
- Strong understanding of basic accounting and financial statements
- Strong computer skills, along with practical analytical and problem-solving skills
