TITLE: Task Force General Manager/Operations Manager

POSITION FOCUS: Will perform assorted audit, administration, project management tasks associated with operations and human resources for the hotel management company including providing general manager coverage for hotel properties when needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Clean driving record and valid driver’s license. Safe defensive driving skills. May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Will be required to be on call when away from work. Considerable amount of travel will be required. Expect to visit a hotel in person several times per week.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE: Reports to: Seva Hospitality President.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be the eyes and ears for management company leadership. See business processes through an owner’s lens. Properly implement management company initiatives. Be a role model for property level staff.
  • Primarily based out of Desoto, Texas hotel location but periodically provide coverage to other hotels such as when a General Manager vacancy comes open.
  • Provide coverage when managerial property level staff are absent (due to P.T.O. or termination of employment).
  • Ensure hotels are responding to daily audit requests, review and approve accordingly.
  • Ensure all hotels are operating within brand guidelines and according to standard operating procedures of the management company.
  • Ensure all SOP manual required binders at hotel properties are kept up to date.
  • Help property level staff plan for departmental and full staff meetings. Attend in person and report back to management company staff.
  • Perform regular property level operational audits and Mock QAs. Ensure QA readiness at all hotel locations.
  • Make staffing and expense decisions so as to maximize each hotel’s financial performance to budget.
  • Assist in all aspects of a hotel’s general operations and provide assistance to the Accounting Manager, such as by helping clear hotel AR, or to the Human Resources Manager, as needed.
  • Manage updates to the team member handbook, job descriptions, job checklists, standard operating procedures and other HR related documentation on the Resource Library.
  • Design training programs for all property level positions.
  • Train property level staff on hotel PMS, labor management, accounting, audit, operations, human resources and other relevant systems.
  • Provide training to all hotel level positions as needed.
  • Standardize presentation of hotel back office, human resources bulletins and materials.
  • Design and plan team building events and seek to improve company culture and morale.
  • Assist in implementing and administrating compensation strategy to adhere to budgetary guidelines. Conduct periodic market research, obtain salary survey data, complete job benchmarking analysis, and provide an overall evaluation of industry trends and practices. Keep compensation data confidential.
  • Assist in implementing a staffing model to calculate minimum staffing levels.
  • Act as point of contact with job applicants. Assist in interviews where necessary and train property level staff on effective hiring practices (i.e. help properties with higher turnover and less experienced managerial staff).
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.
  • Observes the 5x10 rule, which is to be complied with at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
