Project has both HIPAA covered and non-HIPAA covered applications, databases, and data files in our environment. It is often necessary for HIPAA covered and non-HIPAA covered information to integrate or "connect” for required reporting, analysis, and continuity of care. Additionally, many of the applications and databases are legacy systems designed and implemented before the current security protocols and best practices became the standard. As a result, our efforts will go toward improving security compliance and monitoring across the entire network
Position overview / Statement of Work
The goals of the project is Server Upgrade/Migration Project are to:
- Upgrade 2012 servers before they end of life deadline of October 2023.
- Implement the current domain security targets.
Work activities:
Collaborate with Health IT Infrastructure and Solutions Managers to create and implement project plans for the 2012 server upgrades.
Collaborate with Health IT Solutions Team Manager and server owners to create accurate network diagrams of upgraded server environments.
Configure and upgrade suite of 2012 servers to 2016 or higher.
Ensure upgraded servers meet specified system requirements and design criteria.
Install applications on upgraded servers.
Implement Security Domain Controls on all upgraded servers.
Collaborate with the Health IT Infrastructure Manager, Systems Team and Enterprise Data Services Team to: o Identify and implement network policies for each server upgrade.
Ensure user accounts, permissions and passwords conform to network policies and procedures.
Complete an Operations Run Book for each server upgrade.
Skills/experience of the assigned staff
Required
Proficient at building and configuring Microsoft Windows Server (2016 or higher) in a virtualized environment (VMWare)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical detail to non-technical personnel.
Experience of working in a mission critical environment, ensuring downtime is planned and minimized as much as possible.
Experience of Windows 2008-2016 Server migration on large server estates and be able to work autonomously.
Experience of working with change control processes.
Ability to build, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Servers 2008, 2012, and higher, both physical and virtual.
Extensive knowledge/ experience in performing physical to virtual, virtual to virtual server migrations (experience should include knowledge and migrating data with a focus on data integrity and troubleshooting file security issues).
Ability to install/ configure LUNs for best performance and troubleshoot all layers of vSphere/ related components.
Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Group Policy Management and other related Microsoft Windows components; experience in configuring both physical & virtual environments with a focus on high availability and scalability of architectures.
Understanding of TCP/IP, NAT, firewalls and port forwarding.
Experience setting up, configuring, and managing virtual infrastructures running VMware vSphere 5x and 6x while also making design decisions on leveraging storage within them.
The ability to document processes and procedures and maintain consistent and up to date records of information.
Highly Desired/Preferred
The ability to establish effective working relationships with end users.
Five years hands on infrastructure engineering experience.
