Job Summary
OSG is seeking a Systems Engineer to support to our DOD client in the Desktop Support Branch within the scope of system administration, engineering, infrastructure & endpoint services. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for performing a wide range of operating system/executive software and processing hardware support tasks associated with the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of information technology and information systems.
Specific Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, configure, update, fix, replace, and optimize servers and ancillary equipment.
- Ensure servers and ancillary equipment are properly installed for optimal footprint, reliability, and maintainability.
- Support disaster recovery and backup of systems on the network using VEEAM 9.0 for Exchange DB backups and NetApp Snapshot/SnapVault technology.
- Monitor system performance, parameters, and storage capacity, and report any failures to meet operational requirements.
- Utilize network monitoring tools and environmental tools to monitor the physical and logical network.
- Maintain a Domain Name System (DNS) by updating tables, maintaining records of registrations, and address resolution.
- Administer an Active Directory (AD) to create and manage accounts, including CAC-enabled configurations for Microsoft Windows, Redhat Linux, and Apple users.
- Setup, maintain, secure, monitor, troubleshoot, and restore a virtual environment using VMWare ESXi and vCenter software.
- Support SQL Server databases and their host servers, including migration tasks.
- Maintain and support a Host Based Security System (HBSS), including anti-virus, host intrusion detection, rogue system detection, asset configuration compliance, data loss prevention, and STIG policy auditor modules.
- Maintain mobile devices (wired and wireless) in the infrastructure, including remote data synchronization and administration.
- Support Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) activities, including clustered storage configuration and data replication.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Sec+ CE and CISSP Certification.
- 10 years of specialized experience in product evaluation, infrastructure design, systems integration, security/information assurance and management throughout the entire system life cycle.
- 2 years of general experience that includes knowledge of communications systems and network architectures in a large-scale client/server and web environment, and that includes either Linux, Windows, or VMWare systems administration.
- Experience in all phases of hardware architecture and systems integration, particularly the configuration, management, and maintenance of an enterprise level backup solution (hardware and software) and storage area network environment.
- Experience with Red Hat Linux v6 & v7, Windows 2012 & 2012 R2, or Windows 2016.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions, network monitoring tools, and security systems (HBSS).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Possess good interpersonal, communications, and analytical skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Normal office environment.
Travel
- Up to 20%.
- Travel to other government facilities or contractor facilities may be required for assessment/repair/upgrade of remote systems, training, or conferences.
