Why this job matters:
As a Systems Analyst, you will play an important role to ensure the efficient and stable operation of the supported application(s). Responsibilities will include analyzing, maintaining, and optimizing various systems in support of ongoing business operations, projects and/or system modifications. You’ll collaborate with various business stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors to document technical requirements, participate in functional and design sessions, provide feedback on other technical documents and execute system changes to enhance system efficiency and streamline processes.
What you will do:

  • Participate in sessions with the business to define technical requirements. Gather technical requirements by asking probing questions and document. Seek input from senior members of team.
  • Analyze, design, and configure changes/enhancements of software solutions for healthcare industry within care and behavioral management.
  • Work with vendors to coordinate software upgrades, improvements and support activities for care and utilization management solution that manages medical care programs in one integrated SaaS solution.
  • Drive discussions for understanding new business objectives and translate into technical solutions.
  • Properly configure and maintain any supported systems/software.
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions. Gather information, evaluate output requirements and formats. Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements. Monitors project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
  • Design technical solutions by analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts and diagrams, studying system capabilities, and writing specifications.
  • Improve systems by studying current practices and designing modifications.
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems and writing improved procedures.
  • Maintain system protocols by writing and updating procedures.
  • Provide references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation.
  • Work directly with business customers and gain expertise in multiple operational areas.
  • Participate in functional specification and design reviews, validating technical aspects. Seek input from senior member of team.
  • Offer support to business customers in their dealings with technology issues.
  • Participate in department initiatives and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience
  • Three to five years’ experience translating business requirements into technical documentation.
  • Understanding of implementation and conversion activities
  • Proven experience working on SaaS products within healthcare.
  • Working knowledge of cloud technology
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets
  • Knowledge of business process improvement techniques and strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:
  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
