System Administrator
Location: Middletown, RI
MIKEL is a growing company providing undersea warfare solutions to the Department of Defense and various civilian organizations since the company's inception in 1999.
MIKEL is currently seeking an experienced System Administrator. This position will provide technical support to a team, supporting the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNWPT) Code 25 laboratory. Candidates should have knowledge of windows server operating systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and desire to learn new technologies.
Responsibilities
- Administration of windows servers in both development and production environments
- Installation of application and operating system patches
- Installation and configuration of various COTS and Open Source software applications including Internet Information Services (IIS), Apache HTTPD, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL
- Troubleshooting and resolve software and hardware issues
- Interface with external entities to resolve issues
- Ability to qualify as Navy IAT Level 1 through COMPTIA and Microsoft Certification
Specific Job Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in a relevant field
- Experience with Microsoft client and server operating systems including Server 2016 and Windows 10
- Experience with MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server administration a plus
- Experience with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGS) a plus
- Experience with vCloud Director a plus
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
