Job duties:
This System Administrator I position plays a vital role in the oversight and maintenance of a hyper-converged environment running VMware virtualization, including management of an enterprise-level backup solution within a Cisco-centric network infrastructure. This role operates under the direct supervision of the IT Infrastructure Manager and performance is subject to ongoing evaluation through conferences and result assessment. Responsibilities will include optimizing system performance, ensuring data integrity, and managing network resources effectively to support the organization's IT objectives. In addition, this position assists in administering Microsoft Active Directory, ensuring secure user access, efficient group policies, and streamlined directory services to support the broader infrastructure goals of the organization.

- Collaborative Teamwork: Actively collaborates within a team setting, working closely with cross-functional teams as needed to achieve shared goals.
- Problem Investigation and Troubleshooting: Investigates and resolves complex technical issues, performing in-depth troubleshooting, and provides well-informed recommendations for sustainable solutions to maintain optimal system performance.
- Meeting Facilitation and Representation: May conduct meetings and serve as the representative of the IT unit at both internal and external meetings, ensuring effective communication and alignment of infrastructure strategies.
- Infrastructure Planning: Contributes to disaster recovery planning and actively participates in testing to ensure the continuity of critical systems.
- Microsoft Exchange and Office Administration: Assists in administration of Microsoft Exchange and Office environments to meet organizational needs.
- Security: Stays apprised of current security practices. Monitors and responds to potential security issues, implementing necessary safeguards to protect critical infrastructure components.
- Enterprise SAN and VMware Management: Administers and monitors the enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN) environment and the VMware virtualization infrastructure to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability.
Required education and experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business information systems, or a related field, plus four years' experience performing duties like those described above. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis for the formal education requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft Windows Server OS management and administration. VMware virtualization technologies and architectures. Storage Administration (SAN/NAS); EMC Hyper-converge Infrastructure; Avamar Enterprise Backup and Recovery; Microsoft Active Directory, Management Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle technologies from an infrastructure perspective; Cisco network architecture; Solid experience in problem analysis and resolution of software problems; Must excel in a fast-paced environment where critical thinking and strong problem solving skills are required for success; Innovative thinker who is positive, proactive, and readily embraces change; Ability to handle users professionally during all interfaces and Strong written and verbal communication skills.
