The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000.

In this role you will:

  • Perform intermediate-level Systems Administrator tasks and activities with high independence and autonomy.
  • Work directly with stakeholders (both internal and external) including:
    • Communicating via email and phone to provide friendly and timely customer service.
    • Explaining complex issues in more basic terms an average end-user can understand and appreciate.
    • Communicating regularly to ensure a clear understanding, status of the ticket or project you are working on, and the resolution.
    • Coordination of maintenance and downtime.
  • Monitor the performance of servers, workstation, software, and hardware, and take appropriate action to resolve issues and ensure reliable operation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot server, workstation, and infrastructure issues, including root cause analysis in efforts to limit recurring issues and proactively prevent future issues.
  • Assist with the deployment, installation, configuration, management, monitoring, and upgrades of servers, server applications, workstations, virtual environments, and VMs.
  • Assist in deployment, management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of backups and backup systems.
  • Assist in onboarding new customers through deployment of Apogee's Managed Services toolsets, best practices, and documentation of IT infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain various systems that support Apogee's IT Managed Services solutions.
  • Perform IT Assessments to evaluate customer's infrastructures for best practices and security vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of SOPs and Best Practices.
  • Plan and lead small IT Projects including timelines, tasks, and resources, and drive projects to completion on-time and under budget.

Expectations

  • Maintain ownership and responsibility for tickets assigned to you, with minimal oversight. Including, keeping tickets updated (in real time), with proper ticket status, notes, documentation, and communications.
  • Create and maintain documentation (in real time) including KB articles, IT documentation, and passwords.
  • Accountable for progressing assigned tasks and projects, and meeting deadlines and stated objectives, with limited oversight.
  • Follow existing processes and procedures, and continually looking for ways to improve them.
  • Good time management and task prioritization skills, with minimal oversight.
  • When you notice unplanned work that needs to be performed, you take action, while balancing your existing tasks.
  • As this is a remote position, you should have a dedicated space for work, during normal business hours, that is free from noise and distractions.
  • A minimum of a 40-hour work week, as determined with the supervisor, to allow the employee to fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities, including occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, typically 1 week, every 4-6 weeks.

Requirements

Experience

  • 5+ Years of extensive hands-on experience as an Systems Administrator in an enterprise (Domain) environment.
  • 3+ Years experience in Managed IT Services.
  • Proficiency in network fundamentals, such as:
    • TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Server/Client Relationships
  • Proficiency in Operating Systems and Applications, such as:
    • Windows, Windows Server, Mac OS, Linux, and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in IT infrastructure components and services, such as:
    • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, NPS, IIS, DFS, Print and File Services, and SQL
  • Experience with virtualization infrastructure, such as:
    • VMware and Hyper-V (Nutanix and Cisco Hyperflex a plus)
  • Experience with PowerShell for scripting for automation and efficiency purposes.
  • Hand-on experience managing and configuring Infrastructure and Endpoint Management tools, such as:
    • ConnectWise Automate, Addigy, SCCM, and InTune.
  • Experience with backup solutions, such as:
    • Veeam, Azure Backup, and Windows Backup
  • Experience with common cloud solutions, such as:
    • AWS, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace

Education and Certifications

  • Certifications are a plus, however your experience and hands-on knowledge carry significant weight.
  • Certifications that are applicable, but not required.
    • A+, Network+, Security+
    • CCNA
    • Google Cloud Certifications
    • Microsoft/Azure Cloud Certifications
    • Amazon AWS Cloud Certifications
    • Linux Certifications: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
    • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) or Architect (MCSA)
    • VMWare Certified Associate (VCA) or Professional (VCP)
    • Addigy Certified Expert (ACE)
    • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) Architect (VMCA)
