Job Purpose:
As a member of the highly motivated and innovative IT team, the Systems Administrator provides the primary technical support for stable operations of the PSO business systems, phone system, networks, websites, and the underlying infrastructure. The Systems Administrator must have excellent organizational and customer service skills and must be self-motivated with a high level of initiative and dedication. Also, the Systems Administrator can balance being proactive in monitoring systems, planning minor and major upgrades, and patching while prioritizing and fixing emergent issues that impact the business. The Systems Administrator owns all daily activities associated with technology management including cloud infrastructure, phone system, wire tracing, printers (ticket, campaign, and office), and battery backups. The Systems Administrator establishes daily maintenance routines and procedures, including backups, anti-virus protection, and log maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first level through third level day-to-day end user support including hardware troubleshooting (servers, workstations, etc.), backup and recovery, email communication, network administration, and application support.
- Install, configure, patch (knowledge of WSUS required), upgrade, test, support, and maintain Windows and Linux Servers, macOS computers, iPhone/Android devices, network appliances, and workstations.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance, reliability, and security of servers, cloud infrastructure, desktop and network-related services, analyzing trends and recommending solutions for problem prevention.
- Ensure switch configurations and network connectivity throughout PSO LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- DHCP and DNS administration and troubleshooting of related issues.
- Barracuda support, administration, and patching.
- Backup job administration and recovery of all servers, network devices, including phone system, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure maximum system uptime by proactively performing routine/preventative maintenance tasks.
- Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources, servers, and network appliances.
- Research and make recommendations regarding PSO IT projects and/or purchases, infrastructure or otherwise.
- On-call support 24/7 (hotline duty) for mission critical infrastructure and applications when Heinz Hall is open for business. (This sometimes requires working evenings and weekends, with little advanced notice.)
- Learn and support the Pittsburgh Symphony key software applications including Tessitura, and OPAS.
- Azure Active Directory support and Administration (Group policy, permissions, account provisioning).
- Exchange/Office 365 support, maintenance, and administration (Account provisioning, distribution group creation) as well as SharePoint administration and support.
- Responsible for development of thorough documentation of all systems and infrastructure.
- Works with outside vendors (when appropriate) to resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
- College degree in Information Technology or equivalent certifications.
- Two to four years of relevant employment experience in designing network, implementing, and maintaining a cloud-based infrastructure, Windows, and working knowledge of Unix/Linux/Redhat Operating systems.
- Excellent customer service skills, with experience as first point-of-contact/help desk resource, through resolution.
- Adept at relaying technical subject matter to a non-technical audience.
- Solid troubleshooting skills, including at the protocol level, using Brocade SFlow technologies as well as network sniffers.
- Strong knowledge of VoIP.
- Experience with configuration of VLANs and VLAN trunking.
- Demonstrated systems management/experience in SaaS or cloud-based IT environments.
- Knowledge of computer network (LAN/WAN) hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
- Proficient in Active Directory, Security Policies, Data Backups, Microsoft 365, Hyper-V, Azure, AWS, and managing virtualized environments.
- Microsoft 365 & SharePoint administration.
- Experience with SentinelOne Enterprise Security Suite and Microsoft Defender.
- SonicWALL firewall management.
- Brocade stackable Network Switch management.
- Brocade, Cisco, and Ubiquiti routing and switching.
- Barracuda backup, spam, and web filter appliance management.
- Experience working in non-profit arts environments a plus.
This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range between $63,000 - $68,000 depending upon experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefit package which includes paid holidays, paid time off, health benefits, as well as retirement savings options. Heinz Hall in downtown Pittsburgh is the work location for this position. The PSO supports a flexible, hybrid work environment, which currently includes three days per week in-person work, including occasional work on weekends and evenings during PSO and Heinz Hall concerts or events.
