Job Title: Systems Administrator
Work Location: Springfield, MA
Job Summary:
Investigates and resolves software and hardware problems of IT customers; supports IT network, voice, and server infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone, voicemail, email, and in-person requests for assistance from customers experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies.
- Install, configure, upgrade, maintain, and operate all servers in conjunction with supervisor.
- Oversee organization’s backup, disaster recovery, and IT continuity of operation plans.
- Handle problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for customer problems.
- Assist Help Desk Technicians in resolving their support tickets, when needed.
- Travel to customer sites to assist with on-site troubleshooting, training, or other needs, when appropriate.
- Consult with supervisor to develop a plan of action when no resolution to a problem can be reached within a reasonable period of time, or when an issue is particularly resource intensive, bears significant risk, or requires actions outside the technician’s realm of responsibility.
- Call software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products or to request technical assistance, as needed.
- Test software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether products will aid customers in performing work.
- Write software and hardware evaluations and recommendations for supervisor review.
- Work with supervisor and other team members to implement organization-wide deployments of new hardware and software.
- Create or adapt training manuals and procedures, both for IT staff and non-technical end-users. Develop training materials such as exercises, visual displays, and handouts.
- Train users on software and hardware on-site or in a classroom.
Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree in a related field, and/or 3 years of experience supporting Windows servers.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferable.
