Pay Rate: $33.65 - $41.00 an hour
Job Description
We're searching for a technical professional to join the Managed Operations Center Support Services team as a System Administrator (SysAdmin). Responsibilities for this position include integrating, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrading, patching, and maintaining various federal customer systems that are owned/operated by the company. The successful candidate must be able to answer and solve customer technical operational (Tier I) problems in support of multiple federal customer programs. The Operations Center supports Red Hat Linux Administration, Solaris Unix Administration, Windows, networking, printer troubleshooting, database administration, HP Unix administration, ZABBIX monitoring, hardware replacement/troubleshooting, and custom software. Accordingly, applicants must be willing to work shift periods that includes evening and weekend rotations.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide technical systems administrative support to test, deploy and maintain federal contract systems to meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance criteria.
- Provide customer service support to diagnose, troubleshoot and restore service impacting events affecting company owned/managed systems, including hardware, software and operating system configurations to maintain service performance in accordance with contract requirements. When required, direct field support teams to assist in performing repair or new feature addition work.
- Perform technical procedures as they pertain to system administration, including baseline configuration, operating sequencies and restoration approached as approved by management.
- Assist Database Administrators in the resolution of system database issues (RedHat Linux, Unix, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Perform system-level preventive maintenance on system devices and applications as part of an overall lifecycle support strategy to meet contract service requirements.
- Create, update and close service tickets on all system issues handled to meet contract documentation requirements detailing nature of work and steps performed and any relevant data for historical and post-event triage analysis.
- Provide critical outage notification to management (The company and customer).
- Interface with external partners for on-site tech support and transmission of weather data.
- Process and activate user services/accounts as approved by management to access and manage system devices and applications.
Qualifications:
- BS (Bachelors) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field.
- Ability to obtain a FAA Public Trust security clearance
Preferred additional skills:
- Experience with Windows Domain and Active Directory services.
- Experience with Linux and Unix (Solaris, HP) operating systems.
- Excellent customer service abilities and experience.
- Experience working in an IT operations center environment.
- Experience working with applications or systems related to meteorology is a plus.
- Experience in the following areas are considered a plus:
- System and Network monitoring tools such as Nagios, PRTG, Zabbix.
- Commercial Aviation and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) systems
