Job Summary:
Raytheon Software Security Sensors and Effectors Department is looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer – System Security Software Development Lead (S3DL) The S3DL will communicate and work closely with the Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), Chief Product Owner (CPO), System Security Engineering (SSE) Leads, their team, the customer, and other leads and architects in support of a missile system development activity. The candidate will provide technical direction and lead a team of engineers to plan, assign, status, and guide all agile tasks across the team. The S3DL attends technical interchange meetings with the team members and key stakeholders and represents the organization in matters pertaining to the development of projects, provides status on assigned Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) tasks as required, provides document reviews, and resolves technical software engineering and integration issues.
This position requires understanding of real-time software design and the performance implications associated with specific System Security implementations. The candidate will require the ability to understand how their efforts affect the “big picture” of the missile system and be able to develop or review detail solutions at the source code level.
This is an onsite position in Tucson, AZ or Tewksbury MA.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Develop and recommend functional strategies and operational plans to improve Software Development processes, improve code reuse, and reduce redundant parallel development efforts between programs.
Coordinate with stake holders to implement strategies with short to medium-term impact on the organization (e.g., 1 – 2 years).
Provide presentations to communicate status to program leadership and customers.
Provide expert guidance to Systems Engineering / Software / Firmware teams during evaluation of different security techniques.
Train and mentor junior SW developers in embedded security development
Lead security related Software Development, integration, and testing of real-time missile software.
Develop software applications using C and C++ languages on a variety of computing platforms.
Manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines.
Understand performance implications associated with specific System Security implementations on embedded and real-time systems.
Work closely with the Systems Security Engineering (SSE) team to define and implement requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math or related engineering/science discipline.
10+ years in Software Engineering or Embedded systems
Experience leading technical or engineering teams.
Experience with C / C++
Experience with Xilinx MPSoCs , FPGAs or other related technologies.
Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math or related engineering/science discipline
Experience with Embedded Software Security
Implementing cryptographic algorithms and operations
Familiar with NIST standards for implementation of cryptographic algorithms
Experience designing, implementing, testing, or fielding real-time security-oriented solutions (embedded experience highly preferred)
Experience using security-relevant tools and devices for security auditing, network security, host/server security, communication security, or policy management.
Experience in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
Experience with Python / Perl
Knowledge with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) or Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs)
SAFe Certified
Systems Security Engineering experience
Experience with Git, Microsoft Azure DevOps Server, and Jenkins.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
