Boeing’s Space & Launch Engineering team seeks a System Integration and Test Engineer to Lead the Ground Systems Software Test Team in Huntsville, Alabama.
You will join the Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) diverse and multidisciplinary team and work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements for the design, development, test, and production of the launch vehicle cryogenic stages, as well as development of the avionics suite of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS).
NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) provides a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo to and beyond our moon and into deep space. SLS launches larger payloads farther into our solar system, and faster, than ever before possible. This will be the most powerful rocket ever built. It will enable diverse exploration in science and security missions. Boeing is the prime contractor for the design, development, test, and production of the launch vehicle cryogenic stages, as well as development of the avionics suite of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS).
This position is a Ground Systems and Integration position on our Space Launch Exploration Upper Stage team, enabling NASA to send large co-manifested payloads along with an astronaut crew back to the Lunar Surface to support the overall Artemis Program.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead team Responsible for the EGSE Software Requirements Specification (SRS) and coordinate with the EGSE Software Development Teams in understanding the intent of the requirements as well as formal verification of software requirements (FQTs).
  • Lead the SW Test team through SW Test Procedure Development and Informal and Formal Dry Runs of the Test Procedures prior to FQT. Coordinate the development and review of the FQT Test Readiness Review (TRR). Lead the SW Test team in performing FQTs. Maintain run log and daily report.
  • Track issues encountered in the development and Test of the EGSE software and document in VersionOne.
  • Present PRs at the to the Software Configuration Change Board (SCCB) at the EGSE SW level and the ASIP (Avionics Integration) level.
  • Develop and maintain EGSE software issues burnup charts for each FQT and present to management and the NASA customer.
  • Responsible for FQT rest report release.

This position is expected to be fully onsite in Huntsville, AL.
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; domestically depending on business needs.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience conducting Formal Qualification Tests (FQT).
  • 3+ years of experience in software qualification or certification in accordance with Verification, Validation, or Readiness.
  • 3+ years of experience writing Software Test Plans (STP), Software Test Descriptions (STD), and Software Test Reports (STR).
  • 3+ years of technical leadership experience in ground system and software system systems engineering (requirements, design, and operation).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in EGSE Software Development.

Typical Education & Experience:
Lead (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:

Lead (Level 4): 119,850 – 162,150
Senior (Level 5): 143,650 – 194,350
