The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is searching for a reliable, trustworthy Swimming Coach to join our Aquatics team. The Swimming Coach's responsibilities include analyzing swim techniques and determining skill levels, developing individualized swimming programs, educating swimmers on various techniques and styles, and overseeing training. To be successful as a Swimming Coach, you should be empathetic, patient, and understand that swimmers have varying abilities. Exceptional Swimming Coaches are those who place performance over results and are able to motivate and inspire.

SWIM TEAM COACH REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 1 year of experience teaching swim lessons or coaching Swim Team
- Demonstrated ability to recognize students who may need assistance
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and remedy hazardous and dangerous situations
- Demonstrated ability to swim and tread water within Y-USA training guidelines
- Knowledge of swimming and ability to teach at all age groups and various levels
- Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels of students, parents and caregivers, and other Y staff and volunteers
- Must be at least 18 years of age
SWIM TEAM COACH RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach sound competitive swimming skills in a positive, healthy manner that follows YMCA protocol.
- Organizes and administers all assigned coaching responsibilities, including daily practices, recruiting of volunteers, record keeping, and scheduling.
- Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance.
- Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
- Works with Leadership and Supervisor regarding community partners to best guide participants.
- Set up facility or equipment, store equipment, and secure facility upon completion of practices/meets.
- Attends all Swim Team functions as assigned by supervisor.
- Secure qualified substitute instructor when needed.
- Act as a Primary Responder in case of injury, accident, or illness in pool area and provide backup to lifeguards as needed in emergencies and crowd control.
- Report injuries and complete required forms.
- Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
