Sweeper Operator

Job Purpose and Summary

Operating a street sweeper vehicle to clean and maintain job sites.

Responsibilities

• Receive jobsite cleanup schedule from Erosion Control Manager and Jobs
• Fill water tanks and drive sweeper near curb.
• Operates controls to activate rotary brushes and water spray to facilitate debris and dust collection.
• Dumps collected refuse into piles or trucks for disposal.
• Performs minor maintenance on street sweeper:
• Cleaning vehicle regularly, as well as daily driver DOT inspections
• Work long hours during peak season
• Communicating with other departments and locations within the organization

Job Requirements and Qualifications

• 1-6 months experience
• Driver Licence and Class B CDL required
• Knowledge of various street maintenance equipment, their use, and maintenance.
• Ability to know your location in relation to the environment or to know where other objects are in relation to you and the vehicle.
• Ability to use basic hand tools.
• Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to train/supervise
• Ability to make independent judgment/and or independent action
• Customer service skills
• Ability to correctly fill out timecards and inspection sheets on a daily basis.

Working Environment

• Work environment will consist mostly of driving and emptying sweeper
• Hours for the position are Monday-Friday, occasional Saturdays, generally ranging from the hours of 7am-5pm, as well as oncall status
• Occasionally talking
• Frequently hearing
• Continuously sitting, repetitive motions of feet, hands and wrists.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay: $25.60 - $38.40 per hour (based on qualifications and experience)
