SalaryFunctions as the primary coordinator in the Operating Room for scheduling all elective surgical procedures and enters data into the computer system. They function within policies, procedures and guidelines of SMH in accordance with the CDC and OSHA standards, and any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency. Coordinates schedules, referrals, and prior authorization for UroGyn providers and provides administrative support including serving as customer service focal point for patients. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Training
- High school graduate or equivalent; two year Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and operation of SMH scheduling system; computer skills and knowledge of preference card system.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Demonstrates the skill to coordinate the O.R. schedule; knowledge of availability of O.R. equipment, resources sand insurance authorization for payment.
- Must possess and keep current computer skills necessary to effectively use the SMA scheduling system; must have working knowledge of medical terminology and demonstrate effective professional communication skills.
- Critical thinking; demonstrated clerical competence; demonstrated computer competence; outstanding interpersonal communication skills, good organizational skills; knowledge of surgical equipment management, and must meet all criteria associated with responsibilities detailed in this document.
