Job Summary
The main responsibility of the Surgery Scheduler is to ensure the accuracy of the office schedule. In addition, this person will coordinate surgical services with physicians' offices, and verify room and equipment availability. This person will be responsible for documentation of patient's procedure, and physician information; log the completed procedures; and generate a surgical procedure charge sheet.
Duties
- Schedules surgeries and specialized procedures
- Confirms scheduled surgeries against surgeon's allotted times and verify room availability, equipment and supply requirements
- Organizes, reschedules, and updates changes made to schedules
- Communicates information with physicians and enters data into an established database
- Provide follow-up calls to patients and provide rescheduled dates and times
- Ensures accurate coordination of authorizations prior to scheduled procedures
- Collaborates with department staff and providers to ensure all necessary equipment and vendors are requested
- Verifies and coordinates insurance eligibility and referrals for patients based on department requirements
- Coordinates pre-surgery clearance
- Facilitates transfer of patients for appropriate services
- Provides treatment instructions to patients as directed by doctors
- HS Diploma/GED
- Strong Communication Skills
- Knowledge of a variety health insurances
- 2+ Years EHR experience
- 2+ Years of healthcare scheduling experience, specifically in a setting with a high volume of patients
