Athena Homes provides housing and resources for the transitional aged youth population between the ages of 18-21. *Homes for Life Foundation is an organization that counts professional hours towards your LCSW.
*Current available shifts: Monday - Friday 9a-5:30p
What You Will You Bring:
- Master’s degree [i.e., MSW, MFT]; registration (or applied) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences [i.e., ACSW, AMFT, APCC],.
- Preferred candidates will have two years’ experience in the mental health field, providing direct services.
- Graduates are encouraged to apply, as on the job training is provided.
- DMH (Dept. of Mental Health) documentation experience a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills while developing and maintaining professional relations with clients and staff. Excellent communication (verbal and written) required, with the ability to work independently, and with team members.
- Individual must allocate 75% of time in the provision of the above described hands-on services to clients at housing owned and operated by HFLF. Must commute to assigned work site daily, provide own car, show proof of adequate automobile insurance, UI motorist coverage and evidence and maintenance of a safe driving record
What You Will Do:
(Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Supervisor.) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Work with clients suffering from mental illness; provide mental health, case management and crisis intervention services; link clients to community resources and design treatment plans.
- Must have excellent administrative skills to allow for maintenance of progress notes and client records.
- Client advocacy (e.g. assist clients with the Social Security Administration to secure income and medical benefits).
- Research and development of off-site support programs and activities, assisting with regular community outings, community volunteer and job opportunities, and other programs to improve the quality of life, self-esteem, and stability of clients.
- Liaise with, and provide education to, clients’ family members as needed; communication and follow-up with clients’ relatives.
- Provide client-related support to residential staff regarding mental health issues.
- Attend trainings and meetings as may be required by HFLF.
- Transport clients as needed.
- The individual must also have the ability to design individual treatment plans, link clients to community resources, and to provide group and one-on-one counseling sessions.
- This is a full-time position, requiring flexible hours to include evenings and weekends for crisis response. The SSC also provides client-related support to residential staff.
Homes for Life Foundation was formed as a housing corporation in 1986 and as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization in 1987 by professionals from the fields of business and mental health who were also relatives and friends of people with mental disabilities. This dedicated group of volunteers helped to identify the lack of permanent, affordable, service-enriched housing as being the main obstacle to sane, stabilized lives for mentally disabled adults.
Salary will be based on education, experience and program funding. All employees must be able to provide and maintain Live Scan/TB clearances and First Aid certification; other requirements may apply. Homes for Life Foundation is a non-profit housing corporation.
