Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Manage the portfolio of over 250 scattered site rental units throughout the 5 boroughs for Fountain House, a mental health non-profit that supports adults living with serious mental illness (SMI). Coordinate with outside landlords/property management to maintain beneficial relationships between them and Fountain House. Support Fountain House and individual members in finding quality properties to rent.
Shift: 9AM- 5PM Monday - Friday (fully in- house position)
Salary: $60K paid hourly and over-time (OT) eligibility
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build relationships and serve as ongoing liaison between Fountain House and property managers/superintendents.
- Track lease expiration dates and secure renewals in a timely manner.
- Evaluate, record, and communicate rent changes to members, program staff, and agency accounting staff to ensure that member and agency portions are accurate.
- Maintain Yardi, a property management system, for Fountain House's Housing Programs.
- Liaison with Fountain House Social Practitioners, housing staff, maintenance staff and accounting staff to address various issues (member concerns, maintenance work/repairs, fiscal issues).
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with landlords, realtors, and other resources to help in locating affordable housing for Fountain House members that meets quality standards.
- Escort members to apartment viewings, as needed.
- Ensure that new apartment units are ready prior to occupancy.
- Respond immediately to emergencies and inform supervisor and other relevant parties.
- Create and oversee a system for emergency spare keys.
- Participate in administrative and staff meetings, as requested.
- Provide housing information to the Fountain House Community, including but not limited to: lottery apartments, DRIE/SCRIE, etc.
- Support Fountain House members with various vouchers (Section 8, LINKS, etc.) search for quality housing.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Detailed oriented and organized.
- Ability to communicate and advocate around housing issues.
- Problem-solver/ Creative thinker.
- Strong communication skills and conflict resolution.
- Flexibility and team orientation.
- Comfort with digital search programs, portals and databases.
- Knowledge of residential real estate in NYC.
- Ability to work in the field and travel throughout NYC to show members and/or scout apartments as needed.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS
- Bachelors required.
- 1-3 years' experience with housing and property management within NYC.
- Preferred experience in mental health
- Experience in real estate
- Excellent communication skills
- Driver's License preferred.
