Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will provide assistance and support to individuals in need, ensuring their well-being and promoting their independence. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and a commitment to providing high-quality care.
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals in accordance with their individualized care plans
- Assist with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication reminders
- Monitor and report any changes in the individual's physical or mental health status
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and ensure the safety of individuals
- Respect and uphold the rights of residents, ensuring their privacy and dignity at all times
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment for individuals
- Assist with heavy lifting or transferring of individuals as required
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals
- Follow all HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of individual information
Requirements:
- Previous experience in home care or a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of resident rights and behavior management techniques
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and empathy
- Willingness to undergo any necessary training or certifications
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require heavy lifting or prolonged periods of standing or walking
- Familiarity with hospice care principles is a plus
