Shelter Support Staff PM SPLIT
The City of Champaign Township strides to provide essential services with compassion to the community through programs in a fair, equitable and responsive manner. We are seeking dependable, perceptive & proficient employees to assume the position of Shelter Support Staff.
Position Summary: Shelter Support Staff members will be a point of contact for community members who utilize services within the shelter. All services provided by the Shelter Support Staff will happen within the shelter facility.
Supervision Received: Shelter Support Staff will report to the Program Director. Program Director will provide support, feedback, and continuous education regarding duties.
Designation of Time
- 40% - Building Management
- 25% - Data Entry
- 35% - Guest Services
Building Management
- Cleaning and sanitization of the shelter facilities
- Includes: bathrooms, sleeping areas, storage room, laundry rooms, conference room, break room, day service space, and other relevant areas that need consistent cleaning
- Restock supplies for guests and staff
- Assess stock of supplies and report when needed/low
- File paperwork, scan in documents & shred unnecessary documents
- Intakes completed during other shifts are transferred for processing and completing input to ClientTrack
- Ensure guest storage areas stays organized, labeled and tidied
Data Entry
- Ensure Bed Claim information is documented accurately
- Ensure client documents are uploaded to ClientTrack
- Enter in data from excel sheets into the ClientTrack software
Guest Customer Service
- Answer phone calls, document calls, and notify appropriate staff if necessary
- Retrieve item(s) requested by guests
- Give guests access to the storage area when requested
- Remind guests of the policies in place when they utilize a bed in the shelter, hold them accountable
- Can calmly and appropriately respond to crisis and/or confrontational situations
- Can communicate effectively with staff and guests
- Able to accept and act on constructive feedback regarding job duties
- Able to separate personal emotions from professional duties
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
- Adhere to the confidentiality policy
- Strong organizational skills
- Remain transparent to ensure honest and reliable service
Necessary Skills
- Ability to navigate Microsoft office applications
- Trainings or willing to be trained:
- CPR & First Aid Certified
- Mental Health First Aid Certified
- Narcan administration
- Customer Service
Schedules Available
Thursday to Saturday and every other Sunday Split Shift 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 63 per week
