The USG Transportation intern will support initiatives that align with USG’s Transportation strategy of managing cost, capacity, and service.
USG Transportation is responsible for managing freight across several modes (flatbed truck, dry van, rail, barge, bulk, intermodal, etc.). The Transportation intern will learn different freight modes, contribute to cost savings initiatives, and support KPI, scorecards, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
The Transportation intern will work in the Transportation Operations group.- Daily interactions will be the Transportation team, USG plants, other USG cross functional teams, and third-party carrier partners.
- Work will consist of day-to-day operational responsibilities, project work, analysis, problem solving, and process documentation.
- The role will include computer and analytical assignments, presentation material preparation, and communication assignments.
- The Transportation intern will be responsible for drafting and sending communications, joining and participating in Microsoft Teams conference calls, with the opportunity to host and facilitate meetings as well.

. Payload Optimization
. Contract Management
. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Creation and support of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) project
Requirements/Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a degree program at a recognized university in Supply Chain Management, Business, or other related field- Rising Junior or Senior in College
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Understanding of statistics and/or data analysis
- Good written and oral communication skills
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
