Role Overview:
This Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for Supplier Quality assurance, including supplier audits, supper performance improvement, PPAP (Product part approval process), Supplier Premium Program, Supplier Health Assessment, Root Cause analysis, and process audit. As the subject matter expert, he or she should have the capability of working with suppliers to continuously improve supplier performance with quality process tools and systems; this performance includes on-time delivery, PPM, COPQ, SPP, etc. His or her responsibilities include managing supplier parts and part KPIs through process certification, PPAP, and 8-D corrective Action process through the continuous improvement tools and culture.
The individual will provide floor support for day-to-day quality issues or concerns in suppliers. The position will also be accountable for resolving systemic Supplier Quality and delivery problems to prevent production and project interruptions; ensuring high-quality products. Responsibility also includes supporting supply chain management activities, supply chain optimization, and process improvement initiatives, including participation and action in programs aimed at new product introduction or new equipment/factory projects.
On a typical day you will:
Review and approve PPAP submissions
Perform supplier on-site audits
Lead the supplier and part qualification and implementation of the Supplier Premier Program to support new product development
Implement and enforce use of the Otis global quality management system, process, and tools
Manage Supplier Quality issues, including supplier corrective action
What You Will Need to be Successful:
Have a strong working knowledge of quality concepts and tools (Fishbone diagram, 8D, Pareto, DFMEA, PFMEA, Marciano Chart, etc.)
Have the ability to communicate and work effectively with multiple cross-functional stakeholders, including management, suppliers, and Otis colleagues of all levels
Have the ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple high-visibility, high-intensity projects
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Electrical or Electronic industry or manufacturing background
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering, electrical engineering, industry engineering, or other technical disciplines.
Demonstrated experience with APQP, PPAP, and supplier audits
Experience with statistical process control (SPC)Proficient in engineering and manufacturing terminology and processes, including drawings and technical specifications
Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering or another technical discipline is preferred
ASQ CQE or AIAG Core Tools certification is preferred
IATF 16949 Lead Auditor with AIAD Supplier Auditor Certification, VDA 6.3 Auditor, or ASQ Certified Quality Auditor preferred
IPC-610 Certification is preferred
Experience in PCBA manufacturing and Electrical Testing is preferred
Experience in implementing and assessing ESD safe environment and controls is preferred
