Performs work involving supervision of the phlebotomy section of the laboratory. Ensures patient care and specimen processing are provided in a way that meets customer needs in an efficient and professional manner.
Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
- Specimen Protocol: Establishes, maintains, and monitors mechanisms which ensures timely and accurate processing of inpatient and outpatient requests. Prepares and adjusts work schedules and assignments as needed.
- Employee Training: Participates actively in the selection and training of employees. Develops systems to evaluate employee performance on a regular basis. Provides coaching, guidance, and counseling as needed.
- Policies and Procedures: Writes, reviews, and updates departmental Policies and Procedures. Assures compliance with the approved Policies and Procedures.
- Safety and Performance Improvement: Identifies, develops, and analyzes performance improvement indicators for the department. Promotes a safe work environment.
- Financial Management: Reviews the Monthly Financial Reports. Assures that Variances are properly explained. Meets the Productivity targets.
- Customer Relations: Interacts with internal and external customers in a professional manner to address concerns and takes steps to resolve these. Interacts with outreach clients to ensure that client's expectations are met in a professional way. Actively participates in evaluating and improving Patient Satisfaction Scores.
- Actively participates in the successful development and management of the Outreach (MethCare) program.
- Develops systems to manage inventory. Takes necessary steps to reduce waste and optimize resource utilization.

- Basic understanding of financial and statistical tools.

- Energetic, self-motivated, and driven
- PBT(ASCP) and/or MT/MLT (ASCP) is required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATION
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
- PBT(ASCP) or CLPIB (NCA) or MLT/MT(ASCP) or Equivalent Required
- 5 years of experience in Healthcare/Medical Laboratory setting Required
