The Role:

The Continuous Improvement Lead for General Assembly will be responsible for driving Continuous Improvement activities involving schedule attainment, productivity planning and execution, GMS, GCA/DRR/DRL, ergonomics, and safety. Work is challenging and involves a considerable amount of initiative and a high level of independent judgement. Duties include the following major elements.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you will coach, train, develop and evaluate employees. You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems, and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations in addition to the following:

  • Uphold safe work practices as the highest priority and implements objectives for ergonomics and health/safety
  • Leads GMS compliance and department Business Plan Deployment objectives
  • Supports and engages the Throughput Improvement Process (TIP) to ensure schedule attainment
  • Supports Launch Readiness for new or mid-cycle programs
  • Communicates and coordinates changes within the department
  • Leads Change Management processes (EWO/TWO/PTR)
  • Participate and drive corrective actions for GCA/DRR/DRL related items
  • Assist Area Director to develop budget/forecasts and develop plans for departmental gaps
  • Develop and submits Manufacturing Business Cases for cost reductions
  • Develop and implement department productivity plan using productivity wall
  • Develop and execute CIP workshop schedule
  • Lead department waste elimination activities to remove SOSs
  • Coordinate productivity execution meetings between CIP team, Maintenance, Quality, Material and Safety
  • Drives Productivity Wall tasks and countermeasure completion to ensure SOS reduction targets are on track.
  • Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
  • Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment.
  • Assists in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • 3= years of experience in a leadership/supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex assignments with high level of autonomy an accountability for results
  • Demonstrated initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others.
  • Knowledgeable of productivity drivers impacting assembly performance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work with a wide variety of functional groups.

  • Experience/Knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement processes (CIP)
  • Demonstrated technical, functional and professional skills in job-related area
