Responsible for supervising the programs and activities of Fleet Services personnel involved with repair activities, and facility and equipment diagnosis for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) Fleet Services Division.
- Performs duties related to technical area of assignment; responsible for highly complex maintenance projects, and acts as COTR; develops cost estimates, schedules and budgets.
- Assists section manager with his or her administrative responsibilities as it relates to labor relations, and the administration of service and consultant contracts; understand, execute, and recommend changes to policies and procedures established by Senior Management.
- Provides leadership and assistance during development and facilitation of maintenance tests, campaigns, and strategies; open work orders and check recent repair history using computer terminal; ensure appropriate records are maintained pertaining to work performed.
- Performs project/program and performance management functions; serves as project manager as assigned; performs needs assessments, develops technical objectives, and technical procedures.
- Provides performance support expertise to guide maintenance mechanics to improve cost structures and overall effectiveness of ongoing work interventions.
- Schedules facility and equipment for condition-based and corrective based maintenance; make work assignments to best utilize human resources to meet equipment requirements for daily service needs; verify daily time worked by assigned staff.
- Interviews, selects, develops, trains, supervises, evaluates, counsels, and if necessary, recommend termination of subordinate personnel in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines to include EEO/AA program goals and objectives.
- Supervises repair of DART facilities to ensure compliance with all DART Standard Operating procedures, DART Standard Practice Bulletins, and Equipment Manufacturers Specifications to include inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance; assist staff with repair diagnosis; Provides guidance for the interpretation and application of DART policies and maintenance procedures.
- Makes work assignments to best utilize human resources to meet equipment requirements for daily service needs; verifies daily time worked by assigned staff.
- Ensures compliance with DARTs Hazardous Waste Management and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Programs; promote established safety programs and take precautions to ensure staff using DART owned tools, shop equipment, and service vehicles follows appropriate procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university in technical fields (Electronics, Plumbing, Heat/Air Conditioning, and/or Construction Technology) applicable to DART Maintenance.
- Five (5) years progressive building/facility maintenance experience in a technical environment including experience in a maintenance area on facilities and associated equipment utilized within DART to include two (2) years of experience overseeing the work of support staff and/or subordinate staff.
- Must have a valid Drivers License class C; no Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within the last sixty (60) consecutive months, not more than one (1) DWI/DUI on driving record, and not more than two (2) convictions of moving violations within the last thirty-six (36) consecutive months in order to operate DART nonrevenue vehicles.
- Must pass a physical (medical) examination; Incumbents are subject to the federal testing regulations of safety sensitive positions, which include random alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
- Proficiency of PC software applications to include Microsoft Office or other related software applications.
- Ability to work irregular hours and irregular days off.
- Physical ability to be mobile and very frequently, more than 50% of work time, lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds such as parts, small hand tools, and equipment repair equipment.
- Ability to use Fleet service equipment, machinery, tools, fire, and shop safety devices.
