The Position:

Supervises software systems development function, including the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for software enhancements and new products. Identifies, develops and executes implementation according to organizational needs and priorities. Supervises interactive software testing for monthly updates. Works closely with media engineers, internal support organizations and field support organizations, as well as external vendors to assure quality and on time delivery to airline customers.

Engineering Oversight & Reporting
  • Responsible for supervising resources to develop, integrate and test software solutions
  • Provides daily status including meaningful metrics and KPIs to management and department personnel on status of programs under development
  • Develops methods to trace and report on monthly update issues and how they relate to programs and/or individuals.
  • Responsible for the timely resolution and reporting of issues found during development
  • Provides technical leadership when needed to solve development issues, and drive the best solutions for functionality, performance, reliability and cost
  • Identify process enhancements and optimizations and report to management.
  • Supports all internal departments and external entities with regard to monthly update interactive testing
  • Identifies process enhancements and optimizations to increase quality and velocity of deliveries.
Supervisory
  • Hire, train, develop and appraise direct reports.
  • Administers and executes policies and procedures that affect direct reports and the workflow of the work unit.
  • Support and offer guidance to team and various engineering design/development activities

The salary or hourly wage range of $108,000 – $181,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. 

What We're Looking For:
  • BS/BA college degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years work experience in engineering, software development, project engineering, system engineering or project management.
  • 2 -3 years of aircraft industry experience specifically IFE industry.
  • Technical knowledge of Panasonic’s IFE systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability or prior lead experience. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Motivate, monitor and mentor staff as needed. Teach and Train new testers.
  • Strong team building and leadership skills required.
  • Strong Time-Management skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize and distribute responsibilities within the team.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional manner
  • Will have direct reports.
  • Ability to resolve management issues, quality and on-time delivery
  • Ability to work most issues with team without escalation (or independently).
  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects is preferred.

  • Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.  
  • Health Insurance: Medical insurance offerings from Aetna and Kaiser (CA &HI). Options for Employee Only, Employee + Spouse/Domestic Partner, Employee + Children, or Family. Dental PPO and DMO options & Vision insurance through EyeMed or VSP.   
  • 401K with 50% match on up to 8% contribution, full vested from day 1.
