The Compliance Assurance Division is seeking a Senior Utilities Engineer Supervisor to help oversee electrical corporations' compliance with their Wildfire Mitigation Plans.
Under general direction of the Program Project Supervisor of the Inspections & Investigations Branch, the incumbent is charged with overseeing inspection staff and inspection contractors within the Inspections & Investigations Branch to ensure utility compliance with their Wildfire Mitigation Plans (WMPs) and provide oversight of wildfire safety matters concerning electric and communication facilities including, but not limited to, wildfire safety regulations and guidelines, and enforcement of the requirements of applicable General Orders and Decisions.
The Compliance Assurance Division is responsible for assessing electrical corporations' performance in meeting the goals, objectives, and targets of their Wildfire Mitigation Plans, as well as ensuring that each electrical corporation is reducing its risk of igniting a catastrophic wildfire. To do this, the Division reviews documents, analyzes data, performs audits, conducts field inspections, and shares its findings with the electrical corporations and the public. Energy Safety seeks individuals who enjoy fast-paced and rewarding work.
This is statewide recruitment and is a home-based headquartered position. Alternate reporting location of Sacramento, San Francisco, or Los Angeles Headquarters is available upon request. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Working Conditions
• Energy Safety will use shared workspaces for most staff (hoteling stations) when required to work in the office.
• Incumbent may be required to travel, including overnight stays, and on occasion be required to work unusual hours including nights and weekends.
• Dress appropriately for a business/government environment.
• Travel by automobile and/or aircraft in order to oversee staff field work, staff performance, and attend meetings.
• This is a home-based headquartered position. Alternate reporting location of San Francisco or Los Angeles Headquarters is available upon request.
This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment.

The mission of the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) is to advance long-term utility infrastructure safety through data-driven, wildfire mitigation evaluation and compliance, excavation standards and education, in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, and in support of improved utility infrastructure, safety culture, and innovation.
