Who We Are:
Community Partners with Youth (CPY) is a 501(c)(3) after school and summer program serving youth in New Brighton and surrounding areas. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where youth can strengthen their personalities and develop educational and social skills.
Job Description:
Looking for a fun summer job where you can make a difference in the lives of our youth? Then CPY is the place for you. We are currently looking to fill our summer staff for the upcoming summer. Positions are open for both afternoon programs (incoming Kindergarten-5th or 6-9th grades). All staff must be able to commit to working May 28-August 9. Additional hours may be available during the month of August, but not guaranteed. Program runs from June 10-August 1, with the full week off July 1-5. A two-week long training session is held May 28- June 7 from 10-6 for a total of 9 weeks of programming. Position averages 30-32 hours per week.
Hourly Rate: $18
Required Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11am-6pm
Staff responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepping and implementing engaging and enriching activities
- Providing a safe, nurturing environment
- Supervising youth both on- and off-site, including beach/water park days
- Filling out paperwork as needed
- Daily set up and clean up
- Preparing daily lunch and/or snack for a group of 60-80 youth
- Handling all behavior management issues in positive and appropriate manner
- Attending weekly meetings
Qualifications:
- Must be 18-years or older, and able to pass a criminal background check
- FOR MINI BUS DRIVERS: must be 21+ with a clean driving record
- Completed one year of post-secondary school
- Be interested in working with diverse youth in grades 1st-9th in a structured setting
- Previous experience working with youth preferred, but not required
- Be able to communicate with supervisors, fellow staff, and families in an appropriate manner
- Able to participate in daily physical activities (gym games, walking on field trips, light lifting etc)
- Must be willing to participate in water activities while at the pool/beach
- Able to work in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment (dual language skills are a plus!)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (can be earned during training week)
Due to the nature of our programs, staff must be able to commit to working the entire summer.
