Job Summary
Position:Full-Time and Part Time Child Care Worker
Description: Full-Time (40 hours/week, Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm during the school year and 7:30 am- 5:30 pm in the summer). Positions are working with at-risk youth, ages 5 to 17 and their families.
Description: Part-Time (28 hours/week, Monday-Thursday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm during the school year and 10:30 am- 5:30 pm in the summer). Positions are working with at-risk youth, ages 5 to 17 and their families.
Responsibilities and Duties
ChildCare Worker
- Provide family support based on goal development
- Meet family contact requirements, which may include in home visits
- Provide supervised recreation
- Provide discipline/guidance based on goal development
- Provide educational support to children to assist in enhancing academic development
- Communicate behavioral and academic progress and concerns with school officials
- Provide supervision of youth during program hours
- Provide transportation to youth for program participation, following all required safety guidelines.
- Assist with crisis intervention for program youth and complete appropriate reporting according to agency and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in meal preparation for youth provided during program
- Monitor physical site for safety concerns and report potential issues to supervisor
Homemaker (makes up 3-4 hours of your work week):
- Attend staff meetings and staff supervision as scheduled
- Adhere to in-home visit requirements, where contact will primarily occur in client homes and where conditions will be unclean.
- Monitor home environment for safety concerns and report observations.
- Educate clients on safe and healthy home environments.
- Educate clients on household skills, in correspondence with individual goals.
- Educate clients on available community resources, in correspondence with individual goals.
- Provide constructive feedback to families to support safety and goal development.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a valid driver's license and be physically able to drive a vehicle
- Must have current Act 33 and Act 34 and FBI Clearances
- Must have current or obtain First Aid/CPR certification
- Must be able to work non-traditional hours
- Must have the ability to move across uneven terrain, remain sitting or standing for long periods of time, ascend and descend stairs (with or without a reliable handrail), and navigate within cluttered, disorganized or unclean environments
- Must be able to read and interpret forms and documents
- Must be able to speak and write effectively
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, night vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
