Outback Summer Programserves children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade. This summer, program will run from July 1st through August 23rd. Mandatory orientation June 25th-28th.
Location
We are located at 20 Sacramento Street, a large Victorian house in Cambridge, MA with access to a beautiful backyard and art studio space at Maud Morgan Arts. During inclement weather, Outback is run out of the Maria L. Baldwin School. The program also has access to the Sacramento Field and Alden Park.
The majority of parking is available to residents of the city; use of public transportation is encouraged.
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have at least one year of experience working with school age children in large group settings
- Enjoy and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic outdoor environment, working effectively on a team
- Be available the week of June 25th for mandatory orientation
Preferred:
- Two years of advanced education
- First Aid/CPR Certificiation (Outback provides training opportunity)
Outback Teachers report to Program Site Directors and are expected to prepare 2-3 engaging and developmentally-appropriate activities and projects each day. (Past activities include organized sports and games, jewelry making, animation, ceramics, drama, gardening, cooking, and more.) In addition to planned activities, teachers are responsible for the health and safety of program participants. As such, they are expected to prepare snack, maintain program spaces, report injuries/incidences to site directors, and other duties as assigned. Teachers are encouraged to collaborate with each other to support a weekly theme or final showcase. Popular clubs include but are not limited to: performing arts, ceramics, STEM, and multimedia arts.

Schedule:
Regular Day Shift: 8am-3pm
Extended Day Shift: 12-6pm teaching
Many teachers continue to work during school year in Kindergarten, 1st-5th, or Maud Morgan Arts Afterschool.
