The Graduate Student Assistant(s) works as a paid summer term Law Clerk to support the mission of the Legal Office. They conduct research and produce legal documents as directed by Legal Office Attorneys, under the ultimate supervision of an Assistant Chief Counsel. Their work is designed to provide the Graduate Student Assistant a meaningful educational experience that supplements their graduate work and trains them for future positions, while providing the Legal Office useful research and legal products that can be used within the Office's programs. Projects may include research into laws governing air pollution—including climate change—equity and environmental justice issues, enforcement, and other legal matters.

Working Conditions
The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.
