Overview:
Camp Jabberwocky exists to provide a residential vacation camp for people with disabilities while providing respite for camper's caregivers. We provide recreation and enrich the lives of our campers by creating a supportive environment that promotes the fulfillment of human potential and fosters independence and self-determination; we strive to be a community that is an example of inclusivity, love and mutuality.
We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as our Camp Nurse. As a Camp Nurse, you will play a vital role in creating a fun and safe environment for campers to learn, grow, and make lasting memories. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and adults with a wide range of disabilities.
We're looking for individuals interested in joining us for 1-2 weeks over the summer. We are able to offer payment to those who join us for 2+ weeks. Free room and board guaranteed for all.
Duties:
- Organize and distribute medication 5x daily
- Connect with camper physicians when needed
- Assess the camp environment daily for any hazards
- Readily available to assist campers or counselors with any issue in need of medical attention
- RN and Camp MD communicate constantly regarding coverage, presence at camp activities, evaluation of a sick camper, medication action plan, etc.
- Adhere to all camp policies and procedures
Other requirements:
-CPR and First Aid Certified
- Current nursing license
-Ability to live on-campus for the full employment period
Experience:
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting is preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, and fellow staff members
- Energetic and enthusiastic attitude with a passion for working with individuals with disabilities
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment
