Get to Know the Opportunity:
The Data Science Intern will be a fantastic opportunity for a student enrolled in an accredited program with the opportunity to work in a real-world, high-tech environment. Please Note: Work location for this role is FLEXIBLE! This position allows 100% remote work from home or allows work to be performed in any of our major office locations with a hybrid schedule.
The Contributions You'll Make:
- Performing detailed analysis to deliver insight and support analytics initiatives;
- Working closely with Predictive Analytics team and provide data analysis and support for modeling initiatives;
- Business data analysis;
- Data visualization and/or predictive modeling on one or more Voya business domains, such as end-customers, institutions, distribution, fraud, expenses, or web behaviors;
- Supporting in-flight analytics use case projects, data exploration to evaluate ideas for new analytics use case opportunities;
- Other ongoing data analytics work as needed.
Depending on the intern’s skills and time available, work may also include:
- Work with Hadoop on Voya’s Big Data Platform;
- Acquisition and assessment of publicly available data sources (e.g., data from the Federal Reserve, US Census, Data.gov, USPS, Zillow, etc).
Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
Incoming juniors, seniors or graduate students:
- Pursuing an undergraduate/grad degree in Data Analytics, Mathematics or related business discipline;
- Minimum GPA of 3.5
- Detail oriented with good presentation skills;
- Analytical capabilities – being able to see things differently than others with substance and relevance;
- Available to work 40 hours/wk in the summer

Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
