About the Team & the work you do
The purpose of the Data Science and analytics team is to develop a Data Science and analytics foundation that provides significant and lasting competitive advantage to Chegg Skills and helps change the lives of as many students as possible.
Tools used
Python, VSCode (or similar), Jupyter Notebooks, Git, AWS, LLMs (e.g. Open AI, Anthropic, Gemini
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on AI projects, focusing on skill identification and verification from textual data.
- Develop and optimize data processing workflows for document analysis and information extraction.
- Implement machine learning techniques for natural language understanding and text analytics.
- Participate in the research, testing, and application of document parsing technologies.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of data sets for training and evaluating AI models.
- Support initiatives to improve content discoverability and metadata enhancement in educational materials.
Experience:
- Currently enrolled as a rising senior in college, or enrolled in an MSc program, with a focus on Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python coding and familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts.
- Previous experience or coursework involving natural language processing (NLP) is preferred.
- Practical understanding of document parsing and text extraction techniques.
- Knowledge of or interest in instructional design and pedagogical frameworks such as Bloom's taxonomy.
- Hands-on experience with data processing libraries like NLTK, Gensim, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and topic modeling algorithms such as LDA.
- Analytical skills to evaluate system performance and suggest enhancements.
- Strong communication skills to document and present research outcomes.
- A proactive mindset with an eagerness to learn and contribute to team objectives.
